Simon

i studied art/design at HND and then Honors Degree level in Aberdeen and Dundee respectively from 1991 to 1998, i have also recently completed studies for an it qualification for cash and i'm now enjoying a new career.

after art college i worked as a civil servant but it didn't agree with me, during that period (7 years) i virtually didn't paint at all but I began to draw very expressionist/cubist/abstract/realistic/cartoony/jokey/serious/funny/depressing little drawings. i'm now re-discovering how to paint but it's not like it used to be, i feel much more relaxed about how the paint moves. these days i usually listen to strange electronic music while i paint, see a brief 'best of' list below to give you an idea of what i listen too.

in this webshite i have collected some of the paintings and drawings i've produced over the years but understand that i've probably drawn or painted something every day since about 1991 so it's impossible to show everything. i've dabbled with flash as an animation tool and fannied about with a 4-track as well as draw and paint so there might be something for everyone (you never know).

As for a purpose to the site well i'm not yet sure, it was mainly for me to learn how to use web publishing tools but
it's more than that now. i think of it as a wee gem for someone in a non-creative job they don't like searching for a website with something to distract them from it even if just for a few minutes.

i refer you to the following musical inspirations (list abbreviated) :
Aphex Twin : Richard d James Album, Selected Ambient Works 85-92, Come To Daddy and Druqs
Jonny Greenwood : Bodysong | Squarepusher : Big Loada | Dave and Daren Farquhar
Lackluster : Showcase | Múm : Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is Ok
Nudge : Elaborate Devices for Filtering Crisis | Chris Clark : Clarence Park
Jackson and his Computer Band : Smash | Venetian Snares : Chocolate Wheelchair Album
Phonem : Ilisu | Shitmat : Full English Breakfast | Verdi for track Guatie Malde
Miles Davis for the track April in Paris from Conceptions | Thom Yorke : Eraser
Bernard Herrmann for the Taxi Driver Theme | Radiohead : Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief
